Grooner/Zvy-Gelt
by: erin.
I usually only get red wine if I’m going to cook with it or to drink it alongside red meat. However, a few weeks ago I bought a red wine, “zvy-gelt” “just because”- just because of the label. The truth is I almost always choose wines based on their labels (and if they’re under $12) but my preference is white so the label on the red wine really extra spoke to me. 1920s-1950s German-ish depression kitschy bullshit gets me every time. On Saturday I was stoked to see the LCBO now had its’ white counterpart, Grooner,

“Perfect for parties, great with food, picnics too!” I’m dying because of the cute.
The red tasted like red wine and maybe also a bit horrible (I ain’t no expert) but I can expertly say the white is great. I like dry, crisp, and absolutely nothing floral-y and this fit the bill. It’s dry, crisp, a bit appley, and overall I don’t know- GOOD.
Will definitely get the white again and again and again. (Even though it’s above my usual budget at $13.35!).
